HOW TO USE A YOONER ?
POSITION
Sit down with the handle between your legs. With your legs slightly apart and your feet fl at on the snow you will be able to balance and control your speed.
TURNING
Beginner:
Let the Yooner glide slowly with your feet fl at on the ground to help you stabilize. Keep your arms straight out in front of you and lean your chest in the direction that you would like to go. The upper body remains almost vertical.
Experienced:
Keep one hand on the handle; hold your other hand out on the side where you want to turn (until you are touching the snow) and lean into the turn.
BRAKING
For children or to brake in a straight line: Pull firmly on the handle while pushing with your feet to cause the brake jaw (at the back of the Yooner) to rub against the snow. However, the most eff ective technique for braking is to skid. You begin with a turn and you fi nish by skidding perpendicularly to the slope.
1. I AM AWARE OF THE DANGERS OF THE MOUNTAIN
• I have been informed about the existence of risk zones.
• I never go out on my Yooner alone or go too far or stay out for too long.
I ask about the weather conditions and risk of avalanches.
2. I CHECK MY YOONER
• I check that the saddle and ski are tightly secured onto the body of the
Yooner before using it.
3. I AM WELL-EQUIPPED
• I use suitable equipment and clothing
(helmet, ski goggles, gloves, and ankle boots).
• I finish when my clothes are damp and when it gets cold in order to avoid
hypothermia and chilblains.
4. I GLIDE CAREFULLY
• I use my Yooner in a seated position, facing the slope and only on snowcovered
slopes.
• I check that the finishing point doesn’t present any serious risks and that
the area is big enough to be able to stop.
• I am aware of the rules of winter activities (ski slopes, toboggan tracks...) at
the location I am practising.
• I respect other users.
• I control my speed and do not put other users in danger through excessive
speed.
Ski slopes:
• I only glide on ski slopes where the Yooner is permitted
(list available on: www.yooner.com).
• When I take the chairlift, I always attach myself to the Yooner using the
safety strap.
Also:
In the event of an accident, protect the victim, keep him warm, reassure
him and call the emergency services accurately indicating your location.
Dial 112 (Europe).
BEFORE BOARDING:
Put the obligatory strap in place! You must be attached to the Yooner via the strap (leash) in order to avoid any risk of the device falling off the chairlift during ascent. This strap is placed around the user's waist and attached to the Yooner.
BOARDING:
Place one hand on the foot of the Yooner's handle (the top of the handle will then be against your shoulder) and hold the seat with the other hand (behind the Yooner). The Yooner ski will lie flat on the user's knees. This position avoids any risk of bumping when the seat arrives and the bar is lowered.
LANDING :
Yooner users are similar to pedestrians carrying hand luggage. They walk straight off as quickly as possible on landing, leaving the arrival platform free for skiers.
FOR THE DESCENT :
For your own safety, never go down the slopes with your safety strap attached to the Yooner.
